Bit of a Week in Review

I've been meaning to post for quite a few days now, but I've been busy. I still am, a bit, but it's winding down now. So that's good.

On the job search: I'm going to another meeting on Thursday, so hopefully something constructive will come of that. In the meantime, I'm doing an odd job for my mom. It's starting to come together nicely. The usual getting stuff from paper into a computer file thing. I'm not too bad at that. It's taking longer than I originally envisioned, but that's because I swear their budget printouts are as badly organized as my home. (ask ahofschu about that, he just about had a fit when he saw the mess I'd created.)

On family time: House M.D. rocks. Mom, dad and I watched it together last Wednesday. We all laughed heartily, especially dad. It's good to know that he can watch shows with doctors in them despite being a medical statistician. Having been a conjurer when he was younger than I am now, he can't watch crime shows with conjurers in them. He'll guess in five seconds flat how things were done. And he's usually right, too.

On my weight loss work: I work out three times a week, and go for long walks the other, so I hope to see even more results soon. According to the whole BMI thing, I'm borderline obese, but honestly, you couldn't really guess by looking at me. I carry those extra pounds pretty well. I remember when I asked swandog to guess, once we were discussing weight, she thought I weighed less than she does, while it's the other way around. *laughs*

On WoW: It's hard to be interested in my old characters, when I'm so eager to get my hands on my Blood Elves and Draenei. After a lot of thinking about it, I cut it down to four new characters. One Draenei Shaman, one Blood Elf Mage (that's her in my icon), one Blood Elf Hunter, and one Blood Elf paladin. Speaking of Blood Elf paladins... This comic made me laugh. It's true, Blood Elves have to steal everything. I love my snooty cleptomaniacs.

I did work some on my human mage this week, though. She's now level 33, which means she gets to wear the Robe of Power, which I just love to bits. It looks like something a Blood Elf would wear. I had to turn off showing the hat graphic, though, as the brown hood she still wears clashes something horrid. Agh, what is it with hats? I'd love to see more nifty hats. Whitemane's Chapeau would match perfectly, but she needs to be level 39 to wear that. Plus it drops in Scarlet Monastery Cathedral. But Whitemane's my favorite hat. I have to go convince someone to take me there. That combo would be perfect to wear around town. For now, when Felynrae wanders around Stormwind or other cities, it is in a Dalaran wizard's robe.

One of my favorite druids quit, which made me sad. At least I have his MSN, so he can stay in touch. And it's good that he's doing what he can to not become addicted.

So all in all, good week.

Obesity is medically defined as 30 pounds or more overweight, which appearance wise (unless you're really short) doesn't usually make a dramatic difference. I think Renee Zellweger was something like 30 pounds overweight in Bridget Jones' Diary and most people believe she looked better then than she does now.

I couldn't focus on investing any more time in my WoW characters and I was kind of getting burned out on the game too. I decided it was probably a good idea to just take a break until BC is released then I can begin again with renewed interest.

*ponders* I'm tall too, which does help. In my experience, the pounds do make a difference, but not that gigantic. Most people wouldn't estimate me to weigh as much as I do, which was kind of the point. *smile*

And yes, I heard that about Renee Zellweger. I think it's interesting. I also think it proves that she's a bit too slim as it is. Some people are just built to have a bit more meat on their bones.

I take it the Blood Elves would be considered medically underweight. *chuckles* But then, elves are built to be slim.

I keep coming back because I like the people I game with. Or else I'd take that break. But since I have friendly people to talk with, I can kill some things, talk and have fun.

I do know that BC will renew my interest. I intend to leave most of my present characters alone when Burning Crusade comes out, and focus on the new ones.

The majority of my guild quit after 1.12, which was really disheartening. A few still play regularly, but it's not the same. I didn't feel there was much left I wanted to do so I ended up quitting cold turkey.

I just hope BC comes out in time to take advantage of seasonal events. Although, I'm not playing to take up any tradeskills anymore so I'm not sure why I care about the Green Holiday Shirt pattern, but I might do engineering. Mainly I'm a clothes junkie. Lovely Dresses for V-Day, Lunar Festival clothes, Easter Dress, etc. Oh, and any vanity pets. :)

*nods* Yes. In that situation, I'd have wanted to take a break too.

And as for seasonal events, I couldn't agree more. I love the seasonal events. I've missed out on the Easter Dress before, and I want it so badly. As well as more Lunar festival clothes and the Lovely Dresses. (speaking of Lovely Dresses, ever seen a male night elf in one? *blink*) I adore vanity pets as well. Especially the dragon whelplings. All my characters accumulate vanity pets. Cats, chickens and toads especially.

LOVE House! I've only seen it a few times, but I love it. Hugh Laurie is so delightfully snarky! :)

Your exercise plan sounds good. Better than mine, actually. I'm inspired. :)

Yep, House's so snarky, I couldn't stop laughing. Snarky doctors = fun.

The hard part about my exercise plan is sticking to it when I get stressed and have lots to do. I'm going to try, though.

Paradoxically, exercise helps us most when we're stressed, but that's when we most don't think we can afford to spend time on it.

*chuckle* Good point, I'll have to remember that.

Working on weight loss here too...lost 15 kilograms so far! (Gained back a couple of pounds over Christmas, but have since lost them again.) And you DO carry your weight well, if indeed you weigh more than me, because it doesn't show...And it's healthier to have weight spread out over the body like that than to have it all packed into one or two places. Anyways, where've you been, sis?? Miss you! Wanna see you again soon; also, I gotta give you your present and get back those books your borrowed (and give any of yours back to you that I still might have). :) Hope you're doing well and had a great Jul and New Year! *snuggles* <3

I was thinking of you, Swansis. I'm sorry I've been so absent. I'll get those books I owe you together, they're safely on the shelf. I saw them yesterday evening, actually, and thought that I needed to pop over to your LJ and say hi, maybe set something up to meet soon.

*hugs* I've just been busy. I need to write a post updating what's been going on with me and the family.

Christmas was pretty decent, despite the fact that my grandma had a stroke just before. So a lot of family energy's been spent worrying over here.

But still had a good time. Was a peaceful, quiet Christmas and New Years'.

Congratulations on losing those pounds. You've lost more than me. I did go down a whole pants size, though. And the new ones I bought after that have gone from fairly tight to rather loose. So the size's disappearing, if maybe not the weight.

Oh yeah, House is awesome! I'm proud & happy to say that I now own both seasons 1 & 2. ^^

Good for you on your weight-loss! It's such a great feeling when you're able to lose some unwanted pounds and fit into the clothes you always wanted to wear, etc. It's not an easy thing to achieve though. Not too long ago I went vegan and it's helped me feel healthier & better about myself. It's amazing what just a change in diet can do! I've even managed to drop a few pounds. I can actually wear my sister's clothes now but the catch is she can fit into mine as well... doh! XD

Aww, I quit playing WoW in December. I became so addicted it's not even funny then sort of lost interest when I hit lvl 60. I'm a night elf druid (and it's my favorite class to play!). What server(s) are you on, if I may ask? My alliance characters are on Venture Co. Now that BC has been released, I'm thinking about returning to the game. The new races have got me all excited, I really want to play both, especially a blood elf!

On WoW, I hang out at Argent Dawn and Moonglade. Both Alliance and Horde. Blood Elves and Draenei's all I play these days.

I do need to post and update on things, I'll do that soon.
